Shortenills.

Nurture provision in a beautiful natural setting

What is Shortenills?

Shortenills is a school for students with social, emotional and/or mental health needs. We believe that students with these needs can benefit hugely from a both nurture and nature. Aspire's Shortenills school, with our loving and nurturing staff and systems, set in ten acres of beautiful buckinghamshire woodlands, is the perfect place for student with SEMH needs. You can read our prospectus by clicking the button, or look at our student induction materials to get a sense of who we are and what we do.

Shortenills is only for students with EHCPs for SEMH difficulties. All students come through the LA by having Aspire Shortenills named on their plan. We take students from year 7 to year 11. If you have a child in year 5 or 6 with an EHCP for SEMH, and want to talk about whether Aspire Shortenills might be right for your child, please contact Michelle McRae, our head of school.

Shortenills Leadership

Picture
Michelle McRae - Head of School
Since qualifying as a teacher, Michelle has been fortunate to have worked across a varied spectrum of educational provision. For a large part of her career she worked as a specialist teacher for the Lincolnshire Behaviour Support Service, providing multi-agency interventions, family support and teacher training in both classroom and behaviour management. Before moving to Aspire she led an SEMH AP for students aged 4 to 16, which was the 13th school in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Trauma Informed Schools Award. Michelle joined Aspire in September 2021 as Head of Shortenills School and is excited to be part of a school that will make a positive difference to many children, young people and families in Buckinghamshire. You can contact Michelle McRae using the phone number above, or via our contact page.

Iain Watson - Deputy Head of School (Behaviour, Personal Development and SEND) and Careers Lead
